Portugal is the 5th best country in the world to live in

This is the fourth year of the "Expat Insider", one of the largest studies in the world that examines the way of life of expatriates.
 

 More than 12,500 people who work outside the country and are of 166 nationalities were interviewed - Portugal was the country that increased the most in this ranking (13 places since 2016), occupying the fifth position in the best countries to live and the first position in the ranking which concerns the quality of life.
 

Interviewees were asked about various categories, leisure options, transportation, health and wellness, safety and personal happiness. Portugal emerges in the top 15 in all of them leading the quality of life index.
 

The popularity among expatriates, at least when it comes to quality of life, is largely due to the climate and the various leisure activities available. In no case was there a response to criticizing the climate and the quality of the Portuguese environment.
 

Regarding the subcategory Security, the country emerges as a better classified factor the tranquility, being a very peaceful country. No respondent is concerned about personal safety.
 

Finally, immigrants in Portugal are satisfied with the travel opportunities. However, not all those who participated in this survey are satisfied with the transportation infrastructure: one in 11 classifies this as very negative.
 

In general, the fact that we are a country with lots of sunshine and a relaxed attitude can contribute to the general happiness of the interviewees.
 

One interviewee summed up all these qualities as follows: "This is a country gem hidden in plain sight."
